Co-founder Aaron Kemmer, as reported by Space.com, underscores the necessity for larger and more affordable habitable space orbit to support humanity's expansion into space.

Max Space is at the forefront of developing expandable habitats that launch in a compressed form but significantly expand in space, providing greater volume compared to traditional module designs.

The startup is leveraging technology developed by Thin Line Red Aerospace, responsible for constructing existing expandable modules like Genesis 1, Genesis 2, and BEAM.

Max Space has secured a spot on a SpaceX rideshare launch in 2026 to test their habitat technology in orbit. The compressed module is set to expand to a pressurized volume of 20 cubic meters upon deployment.

Following the in-space test, Max Space plans rapid expansion, aiming to launch larger modules. By 2027, they plan to introduce a 100-cubic-meter habitat, followed by a 1000-cubic-meter module by 2030.

Max Space aims to cater to various customers, including pharmaceutical companies interested in zero gravity research, commercial space stations, and even movie studios seeking to film in orbit.

The company envisions extending its habitats beyond Earth's orbit, with ambitions to establish settlements on the Moon and eventually Mars.
