Immortality by 2039: Tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson says he is close to his longevity mission
Tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson's ultimate goal is to live forever, and guess what? Looks like his controversial plan is already in the works, and he plans to achieve it in the next 14 years!
The 'anti-ageing millionaire', famous for his audacious goal of reversing biological age, recently revealed that he is close to his vision. Bryan Johnson is planning to achieve immortality by 2039. Yes, you read it right. Apparently, immortality is no longer a distant dream.
"I’m going to try and achieve immortality by 2039," Bryan Johnson said, in a post shared on X. He also claimed that he has remained the same biological age in a year. “One year of time passes, and I remain the same biological age.” He calls this period an “absolutely insane moment” in human history.
“For the first time in the history of life on earth, in just the past 24 months, the window has opened for a conscious being to realistically strive for this goal. It is an absolutely insane moment,” he said.
Bryan Johnson confessed that he is currently doesn’t know how “2039 immortality” will be achieved, but, “There are new, promising therapies that can turn back the clock decades, but they’re buggy. Sometimes they mistakenly cause cancer. We gotta fix that.”
The anti-ageing enthusiast stated that nature has already solved the immortality puzzle. “This isn’t a physics problem like trying to travel faster than the speed of light, it’s a biological engineering problem that evolution has cracked multiple times,” he said.
“The freshwater hydra constantly regenerates its own cells and doesn’t succumb to senescence. It is effectively ageless. The "immortal jellyfish" (Turritopsis dohrnii) can revert its cells back to a youthful state and restart its life cycle indefinitely. Lobsters produce an especially active form of an enzyme called telomerase that preserves their telomeres and keeps their DNA from degrading as they age,” Johnson said, and added that all humans have to do is to ‘port the software’
Bryan Johnson also clarified why he thinks immortality can be achieved in the next 14 years. “2039 is a reasonable target because of the accelerated, AI-driven rate of innovation. AI is morphing from assistant to scientist. It is powering current researchers with previously unimagined capabilities to enhance discovery and development,” he explained.
“The 2039 goal points us in the right direction. To say yes to life and no to death,” he added.
The tech entrepreneur further stated that while he and his team are working towards immortality, the real focus is to work towards something more concrete. “I personally love the idea of having a child-like mind, 18-year-old physical vibrancy, and a lifetime of wisdom,” he said.
