N. T. Rama Rao

Popularly known as N. T. Rama Rao, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao started off his career as an actor. His first film was Mana Desam, where he played the role of a policemen. Later, N. T. Rama Rao portrayed Krishna in the blockbuster film Maya Bazaar. He gained popularity in the 1950s when he became well known for his portrayals of Hindu deities, especially Krishna and Rama. He not only gave hits in Telugu cinema but also worked for Tamil movies. N. T. Rama Rao was also a notable screenwriter. For his contribution to Indian cinema, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1968.

NTR entered politics in the year 1982, when he founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Hyderabad. He became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh three times. Thus, N. T. Rama Rao was not only an outstanding actor but also a successful politician. He passed away of heart attack at the age of 72 in the year 1996.

Chiranjeevi

Chiranjeevi's first movie was Punadhirallu, which won the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film. He had a successful career as an actor and along with Telugu cinema, he also worked in Tamil, Kannada and Hindi films. Chiranjeevi was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award - South at the 58th Filmfare Awards South in 2011 for his contributions to the film industry. Chiranjeevi received Padma Bhushan from the Government of India in 2006.

Chiranjeevi entered the world of politics in the year 2008. He started a political party known as Praja Rajyam in Andhra Pradesh. In the 2009 general elections, Chiranjeevi was elected a Member of the State Assembly from Tirupati.

Kota Srinivasa Rao

Kota Srinivasa Rao is known for his work in Telugu movies. He is also a theatre artist. Rao also acted in few Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. Rao is one of the finest method actors of contemporary Telugu cinema. He has, reportedly, acted in 650 feature films. Rao has won many awards as an actor including seven state Nandi Awards as best character, villain and supporting actor. Rao received India's fourth highest civilian honour Padma Shri, in the year 2015, by President Pranab Mukherjee for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Kota Srinivasa Rao entered politics during 90s. He was an Ex Member of Legislative Assembly from Vijayawada East assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh, from 1999–2004. Kota Srinivasa Rao is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Mohan Babu

Mohan Babu started off his career by doing cameos, supporting roles and until he subsequently started playing lead roles. Along with Telugu cinema, he also acted in few Tamil films. Mohan Babu received the Filmfare Best Actor Award, for his work in the multi-starrer Pedarayudu in 1995. Mohan Babu was also awarded an honorary doctorate from University of California for his contribution to the field of cinema and education. Some of his blockbuster films include Alludugaru, Allari Mogudu and Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda. Mohan Babu has acted in more than 500 feature films. He is cited in the media as a Dialogue King, Collection King, Nataprapoorna, and Natavachaspathi.

Mohan Babu had a good association with the late N.T. Rama Rao and he keenly campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) when it was led by Rao. Mohan Babu joined the party in 1982. In 1995, he received a nomination for Rajya Sabha as a member of parliament representing Andhra Pradesh. Mohan Babu continued with his career in the film industry when he left TDP. It was reported that Mohan Babu is all set to make a re-entry into politics but he has not mentioned which party he would join.

Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan started off his acting career in 1996 with the Telugu film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. Pawan Kalyan's 1998 film Tholi Prema won a National Award and 6 Nandi Awards. He is one of the most successful actors in the Telugu film industry. His noteworthy movies include Gokulamlo Seeta, Suswagatham, Kushi and Gabbar Singh. He is the younger brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi.

Pawan Kalyan entered politics in 2014. He founded a party known as Jana Sena Party. Pawan Kalyan even met with then BJP Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to discuss about the issues related to both the Telugu states. In 2014, Pawan Kalyan was apparently listed by Google as the most searched Indian celebrity politician on Google search.
