Here are five Telugu films that managed to rope in the numbers in 2021

Several Tollywood films hit the Indian cinemas halls this 2021 and, interestingly some movies emerged as the clear winner. Filmmakers have come up with some amazing content that not only entertains us but also tells an interesting story. These films also tend to not only open well at the box office but also go on to become the highest-grossing films of the year. On that note, here are the 5 highest-grossing films in 2021 thus far.

Vakeel Saab

Starring Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Haasan, Anjali, Nivetha Thomas and Ananya Nagalla, this courtroom action entertainer is a remake of the Hindi film Pink. Breaking the norm of courtroom dramas, this Tollywood counterpart made a whopping Rs 137. 65 crores at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing film of 2021. The film opened to packed houses upon its release and turned out to be a roaring blockbuster hit.

Uppena

'Uppena' might look like the love story of a rich girl and a poor boy, but it actually comes with a twist and freshness. The film featuring Panja Vaisshnav Tej, Krithi Shetty and Vijay Sethupathi made an indelible mark this year at the box office. This romantic drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana made a collection of Rs 83 crores. The film was a critical and commercial success becoming one of the biggest hits of 2021. Upon release, it broke all opening records.

Akhanda

Even though it’s a regular high-voltage commercial action entertainer, it did wonders to the Indian box office. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year with an earning of about Rs. 74 crores in just four days at the worldwide box office. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in dual role, Pragya Jaiswal and Srikanth. Balayya’s double role, which he'd played with ease, fetched him a much-needed hit.

Jathi Ratnalu

'Jathi Ratnalu' is a quirky comedy-drama directed by Anudeep KV. It stars Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi, Rahul Ramakrishna and Faria Abdullah in lead roles. According to trade reports, the gross collection of the movie was Rs 70 crore, way below the film's budget of Rs 4 crore. This was the most successful film of the year and was declared a blockbuster hit at the box office. Vijay Deverakonda and Keerthy Suresh also make special appearances in the film.

Krack

The Ravi Teja starrer opened extremely well with the full house almost everywhere across Indian with the occupancy ranging from 70-100 per cent. It went on to gross Rs 60.6 crore in the long run, although collections were affected due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film also stars Shruti Haasan, Samuthirakani and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The film became Ravi Teja’s biggest commercial success till date.
