When Samantha Ruth Prabhu didn't believe Naga Chaitanya when he said 'I love you'

Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala got engaged today (August 8) in an intimate ceremony at Chay’s residence in Hyderabad. The pictures from the function were officially shared by Chay’s father, actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, on his Twitter account on the same day. This event has sparked a split on social media between Chay's fans and those of his ex-wife, Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya were one of the most adored couples in Tollywood until 2021, when they announced their divorce. They shared the screen in the 2010 hit movie ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ and started dating shortly after. They tied the knot in 2017. There was a time when Samantha mentioned in an interview that Chay did not seem sincere when he said he loved her.


Years ago, in a chat with TFPC on their official YouTube channel, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya spoke about their journey in the industry and their love life. During the interview, the host asked Chay to propose to Samantha on the spot. Chay was initially a bit shy, but Samantha, laughing, urged him to "say it like you mean it." Chay then said, "From the bottom of my heart, Samantha, I love you." However, Samantha wasn’t satisfied and asked the interviewer, "Did you believe that?" She added with a playful expression that she didn’t believe it and wanted him to say it again like he meant it.

Samantha’s response prompted Chay to propose to her again, and he added that he only says things he truly means.
