Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu review highlights: A disoriented ride so far

Two days after its premiere in the US, Indrasena R's Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu released in India today, featuring music by Mark K Robin of Awe fame and starring Nara Rohith, Sree Vishnu, Sudheer Babu and Shriya Saran in lead roles.
The film opened to lukewarm response abroad and it's really not hard to see why. Imagine a scenario where a house (you read that right) goes missing and a police officer has to track it down.Also missing is an airplane filled with 300 VIPs with the onus on a special investigative team to track it down. Unfortunately, there's also a missing orphaned girl child whom no one in the police department seems to care about. Sounds kind of intriguing and partially ridiculous, if not entirely exciting right? Except, it's not!
Nara Rohith plays Deepak Reddy, the man leading the special team to find the missing flight, aided by a chain-smoking Inspector Neelima, played by Shriya Saran. Sudheer Babu plays Vinay Kumar, the police looking for the missing house, while Sree Vishnu plays the titular Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu. Yes, that's what he actually calls himself, seeing as how he believes he's a badass vigilante cleaning the earth of its scum instead of the serial killer that the authorities believe him to be.
The film seems massively confused about the genre it wants to fit in and the kind of tone it wants to set. While really not difficult to follow, the film tries hard to be otherwise, especially before the interval, aiming to pull the rug from under you. With so many tracks to follow, the narrative gets choppy and repetitive after a while instead of flowing from one story to the next seamlessly. With such a disorienting first half filled with random, illogical conclusions and plot holes, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
