Telugu cinema icons honored with Padma Awards

The Padma Awards, one of India's highest civilian honors, have recognized several luminaries from the Telugu film industry for their remarkable contributions to cinema and culture. Here are some of the esteemed Telugu stars who have been graced with these prestigious awards.

Recently on May 9, 2024, Megastar Chiranjeevi who is one of the most influential actors in the history of Telugu cinema, received the honour of Padma Vibhushan. He is recognized for his dynamic roles across a career spanning more than four decades.

A legendary actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, NTR won several prestigious awards, including three National Awards. He was bestowed with the Padma Shri in 1968 for his extensive contributions to Telugu cinema and his service in politics.

Renowned for his vast range of roles in Telugu cinema, ANR was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2011 for his contributions to the fields of Art and Cinema. His career spanned over seven decades during which he played pivotal roles in shaping the Telugu film industry.

K. Viswanath is a celebrated filmmaker known for his works that blend art with social messaging, making significant contributions to Telugu and Indian cinema was awarded Padma Shri in 1992.
