Small Telugu films too cash in on hit jodis

A number of small budget filmmakers are looking to capitalize on the successful lead pair���s on-screen chemistry to repeat BO magic. Tollywood is superstitious and has no qualms about following a success formula. A hit on screen jodi often finds takers in the form of another big ticket flick. But the trend of repeating a hit reel pair is not relegated to big budget movies alone.If the current trend is anything to by, then even small budget movies that happen to strike gold at the box office, are more than happy to do an encore with its lead pair.
Sunil-Isha
Sunil and Isha Chawla hit box office gold with the film, Poola Rangadu. The action drama set the cash registers ringing and propelled by its success, the couple went on to sign another movie, Mr Pellikoduku, the official remake of 2011 Hindi film Tanu Weds Manu. Despite the hype surrounding the lead pair, the film didn���t fare too well at the BO.
Nikhil and Swati
After the success of Swami Ra Ra, Swathi and Nikhil are teaming up again for another film, Karthikeya. Chandu Mondeti will be making his directorial debut with this film. The shooting of the movie, which is going to be an entertainer with a thriller back drop, has already begun. Talking about his pairing up with Swathi for the second time, Nikhil says, ���My pairing with Swathi in Swamy Ra Ra was highly appreciated by the audience. The producers too was impressed with our on screen chemistry and wanted to cast us again. I accepted the offer immediately. Besides, Swathi is a very good co-star and I���m pretty comfortable working with her.���
Nithiin-Nithya Menen, Ishq
Nithiin and Nithya Menen paired up for Ishq, which finally ended the leading man���s decade-long unsuccessful filmi stint. The duo then came together for the second time in Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde, which went on to become the biggest hit in Nithiin���s career. Speaking about casting Nithya opposite Nithiin for the second time, the film���s director, Vijay Kumar Konda says, ���Since the movie was high on romance, we wanted the leading lady to connect emotionally with the audience. Apart from speaking Telugu, Nithya is also a very natural actor. The pair proved to be a hit at the BO even the second time, so our stand of casting them again, stood vindicated.���
Vishnu���Hansika, Dhenikaina Ready
Vishnu Manchu and Hansika teamed up for Dhenikaina Ready, which set the cash registers ringing and gave Vishnu a hit after a long time. The lead pair has now teamed up again for the second time for an untitled film, which also stars the Manchu family patriarch, Mohan Babu, and Vishnu���s brother Manoj. Hansika and Vishnu have already begun shooting for this film and the makers are confident of recreating the lead pair���s magic on screen.
