Legendary filmmaker of Indian cinema, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is celebrating his birthday on Monday (September 21) and despite confined to home isolation after testing positive for

COVID-19

with ‘very mild symptoms’, the octogenarian is utilising the time for working on film scripts and reading books. Taking his birthday into account, the makers of Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film took to social media and welcomed Singeetham to the magnum opus as the mentor. They also thanked him for working on the film during his quarantine.

Sharing a special poster on SIngeetham’s birthday, the production house of ‘Prabhas 21’ wrote on their social handle “A long awaited dream finally comes true. We are thrilled to welcome #SingeetamSrinivasaRao Garu to our epic. His creative superpowers will surely be a guiding force for us.”

Directed by ‘Mahanati’ fame Nag Ashwin, the untitled project is touted to be a first-of-its-kind sci-fi drama set in the backdrop of a third World War. While the pre-production works are expected to kick-off once the prevailing COVID-19 situation gets back into normalcy, the film will be helmed on a massive scale with a hefty budget. Recently, speculations went rife that popular actor Arvind Swami is in consideration for a pivotal role in the film.


Singeetham Srinivasa Rao holds the credit for revolutionising South cinema with an array of experimental and path-breaking films. Regarded as the king of versatility with films like ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’, ‘

Aditya 369

’ and ‘Bhairava Dweepam’ under his belt, his last directorial was ‘Welcome Obama’ in 2013. After seven years, the national award-winner is contemplating to wield the megaphone once again with a biopic on Carnatic singer, social activist and scholar Bangalore Nagarathnamma. She lived during the pre-independence era and is also said to be a descendant of the famous devadasi community.
