'Peddi' box office collections day 6: Ram Charan film crosses Rs 261 cr worldwide; Collections dip nearly 20 percent
Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor's 'Peddi' continues its box office journey despite facing criticism and mixed reactions from sections of the audience.
Sacnilk reports say that 'Peddi' collected Rs 9.65 crore net in India on Day 6. The figure marks a decline of 19.9 percent from its Day 5 earnings of Rs 12.05 crore.
The overseas market added another Rs 1 crore on Day 6. This pushed the international gross total to Rs 48 crore. As a result, the worldwide gross collection has now climbed to Rs 261.23 crore.
The film recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 27.12 percent on Day 6. Evening shows witnessed the strongest response from audiences. 'Peddi' was screened in more than 7,500 shows across India on the day
Speaking to Telugu360 Digital, Jagapathi Babu defended Janhvi Kapoor and appealed for restraint in online discussions.
He said, "As an artist, the only thing I would say is please don't target the actor. It's unfair to go after that girl. We don't know what her personal views were or whether she agreed with every creative decision."
Explaining the creative process behind filmmaking, he added, "It's not as if she pushed for it herself. She did what the director asked her to do. When an actor signs on and trusts a director's vision, they follow that vision. We do what the director tells us. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. He (Buchi Babu) may have his own reasons. I support Janhvi in this matter."
The actor also stressed that viewers should focus their opinions on the film rather than on individuals.
He further said, "If you like or dislike the film, comment on the film. But don't single out an artist, troll them, or cause them mental distress."
