Not just ‘Varanasi’; Prakash Raj locks another big project; Signs Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's directorial debut ‘Saraswathi'

Veteran actor Prakash Raj has officially confirmed that he is part of SS Rajamouli’s highly awaited upcoming film 'Varanasi starring Mahesh Babu in the lead and directed by SS Rajamouli.Speaking at a recent event Prakash Raj revealed the nature of his character. He said, “I am working in Rajamouli’s Varanasi. I play a Maha Shiva Bhakt in the film.” Now another update regarding Prakash Raj has created some attention among the fans. Apart from 'Varanasi' Prakash Raj is also part of the upcoming film 'Saraswathi' which marks the directorial debut of actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The makers released the first look of his character revealing that he plays a lawyer named Ramanujam.The promo featured behind-the-scenes clips of the actor on set. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar also expressed her appreciation for Prakash Raj’s contribution to her first directorial venture. Responding to the announcement, she wrote, "Thank you so much sir..!!! It was a pleasure having you with us."The shooting of 'Saraswathi' was completed on December 30 last year. Varalaxmi had posted an emotional message on Instagram at the time, "It’s been one hell of a year.. My directorial debut #Saraswathi... We started shoot a month ago and now it’s a WRAP for #Saraswathi." The film features a strong cast including Prakash Raj, Priya Mani, Radhikaa Sarathkumar and Naveen Chandra.In 'Varanasi' Prakash Raj steps into a spiritual and intense role as a Maha Shiva Bhakt. In Saraswathi he plays a grounded, dramatic character as lawyer Ramanujam. 'Varanasi' is set to release on April 7, 2026.On the other hand Prakash Raj was last seen in 'Seetha Payanam' and the critically acclaimed film 'Champion'.
