Varun Tej has ended 2019 on a high by scoring two back-to-back superhits with ‘F2: Fun & Frustration’ and ‘Gaddalakonda Ganesh’. Presently, he is gearing up for his upcoming project with debutante Kiran Korrapati. Touted to be a high-voltage sports drama, the 30-year-old actor will be essaying the role of a professional boxer and to fit the bill, he already underwent an intense training program for two months in Los Angeles and worked on his body transformation. Olympic Gold Medalist Tony Jeffries has trained Varun in the boxing part and ‘Rocky’ actor Carl Weathers acted as a consultant.

Not many know that Varun Tej made his debut as a child artist at the age of 10 in his father Nagendra Babu’s 2000 film Hands Up! After 14 years, he made his protagonist debut with Mukunda starring Pooja Hegde as the leading lady. Directed by Srikanth Addala, the romantic-drama fell flat at the ticket counters despite garnering critical acclaim. However, Varun Tej’s performance and his screen-presence were immensely appreciated.

After his debut, Varun Tej teamed up with Krish Jagarlamudi and delivered one among the best war films ever made in Telugu cinema. Besides the jaw-dropping battle sequences in Georgia, ‘Kanche’ also talked about the lines of demarcation in society which divided people on the basis of caste, wealth and religion. Despite being a 1-film old, Varun surprised the audience with his mature performance as Dhupati Hari Babu and handled the toughest of scenes with alacrity.

After the back-to-back failures of Loafer and Mister, Varun bounced back into top form with successful romantic films like Tholi Prema and Fidaa. Starring Sai Pallavi as the leading lady, the Sekhar Kammula directorial came like a breath of fresh air in Tollywood and struck the audience with its soothing music and compelling characters. Coming to Tholi Prema, the coming-of-age romance directed by debutante Venky Atluri received a big thumbs-up at the box-office.
Prepping up to go full guns blazing in #VT10
Varun Tej will be seen as a boxer in his upcoming film, tentatively called #VT10. Directed by debutante Kiran Korrapati, the intense sports drama is jointly bankrolled by Allu Venkatesh and Sidhu Mudda and according to reports, Naveen Chandra will lock horns with the Mega hero. Major chunk of the film’s budget will be dedicated to action sequences which will be supervised by Hollywood choreographers. Both the protagonist and antagonist are expected to appear in bulked-up bodies with six-pack abs.
