For the past three weeks, the makers had been reiterating that the film will release across the world on May 9 at any cost. While it's not clear why the film's release had to be postponed once again, a leading Chennai based multiplex chain has confirmed that the film will not release on May 9 due to 'technical reasons'. On the other hand, the list of theatres where the film will release has already been confirmed and some theatres in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh had already begun advance booking. With these latest developments, it remains to be seen how the trade responds since there's a lot riding on the film's success. Rumours are rife that the film might release on May 23, since that's the first Friday after the results of general elections are declared.
Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, the film also stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role, apart from Aadi, Nazar, Sarath Kumar, Rukmini and Shobana. A R Rahman had scored the music and the film is going to be dubbed in Telugu as Vikramasimha.
