Kamal Haasan's look in the recent blockbuster 'Kalki 2898 AD' has stunned fans and movie enthusiasts. Playing the pivotal role of Supreme Yaskin in Nag Ashwin's direction, the acclaimed actor's transformation in the trailer and promotional materials was both unexpected and astonishing.
Haasan showcases two distinct looks in the movie. Throughout the film, he appears as a gaunt figure reliant on life-support machines. However, a mid-credits scene unveils a dramatically transformed, muscular version of his character. Now, a unique image of Kamal Haasan is going viral on Twitter, claiming it is the rejected look of the actor in the movie.
Check out the photos here:
The film reveals that Yaskin’s enhanced physique results from receiving a drop of a special formula derived from the unborn child carried by Sum-80, played by Deepika Padukone. While this powerful transformation is intimidating, it has recently come to light that an alternative look for Yaskin was considered during production. An image circulating online suggests that director Nag Ashwin had envisioned a more elaborate and intricate appearance for Yaskin.
The discarded design included a halo-like structure positioned behind Haasan’s head and a metallic apparatus encircling his neck, adding bulk and complexity to the character's appearance. This version was ultimately deemed too complex and was replaced with the more streamlined final look.
Prior to the release of the film, Kamal Haasan told the media in a press meet that he was initially excited about playing a villainous role, thinking it would be entertaining. However, Ashwin envisioned something unique, and they had numerous discussions to ensure the look was original and distinct from anything he or others had previously done.
Haasan humorously recounted his creative process, saying that he thought he would do some research and discovered that Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) was involved. Then, he considered wearing armor but learned that Prabhas had that covered. He joked about trying to be pregnant like Padukone’s character Sumathi, but that was out of the question.
