Music director SS Thaman
is celebrating his 37th birthday today. Thaman is best known for his works in Telugu and Tamil cinema. He debuted as a music director for the first time in 2008 for the film Malli Malli, which was directed by Raaj Adithya. Skanda Ashok and Kalyani played the lead roles. Thaman, son the drummer Ghantasala Siva Kumar, got his first major break with the film Dookudu in 2011, following which he has enjoyed a prolific career.
Thaman assisted music directors Raj-Koti, MM Keeravani, Vandemataram Srinivas, Chakri, RP Patnaik, Devi Sri Prasad and Mani Sharma before becoming the musician. He is behind the scores for more than
120 films
in total. He has won three SIIMA Awards, one Filmfare Award and seven other prestigious awards.
The composer has lent music to many popular films including Anjaneyulu, Brindavanam, Mirapakay, Dookudu, Kandireega, Bodyguard, Businessman Balupu, Race Gurram, Power, Sarrainodu, Mahanubhavudu,
Tholi Prema
, Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava among more. He also acted in a film titled Boys, in which he played the drummer Krishna.
He is on a high, after his songs from the movie Ala Vaikunthapurramulooi got rave reviews. He composed six songs for the movie,
Samajavaragamana
, Ramuloo Ramulaa, OMG Daddy, Butta Bomma,
Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo
and Sitharala Sirapadu and all were chartbuster hits. The expository music and noteworthy background score drove the movie throughout. The most commendable aspect about the movie was its music and the overpowering score by Thaman pulled off the audacious movie.
