An exclusive conversation with the budding actress Jyothi Chivukula

We had an exclusive conversation with the budding actress Jyothi Chivukula, who is known for her stint in short films such as My last photograph, Move on, Oka Chinna Maata, Prema Geetham, Ganga, Manoharam, Lol Ok Please web series, 30 years industry web series, Uninvited Athithi, Swayamvaram and Idi Prema. She reveals why she wants to become an actor, how newcomers are struggling to get opportunities in the industry, her favourite movies, what is she doing during self-quarantine at home. Let’s check it out.

2/7

Why do you want to become an actor?

From a very young age, I was inclined towards acting, and it has been my passion. I am heavily inspired by the great actors of our previous and current generations I’ve seen and always wanted to make a mark for myself as a good actor. Each day in my life, I strive to make myself a better actor and put efforts into making my dream come true.

3/7

With so many newcomers foraying into the industry, do you think the industry is welcoming newcomers?

It is an undeniable fact that there is too much competition in the industry, and it gets tough, especially if you are an outsider without zero support or background. But there have been instances where the new talent of all ages is being welcomed, by recent directors who cast newcomers and have scored hits. Getting the first chance is tough, and equally, difficulty to sustain in the industry. The struggle is never-ending, and we just have to keep doing our best with the opportunities we land in.

4/7

Who is your favourite actor? And your favourite movies?

Power star Pawan Kalyan undoubtedly is my favourite actor ever and will be forever. Even since his first film, I’ve been a die-hard of him and find him extraordinarily charismatic and cool. With all that said, my favourite movies are Tholiprema, Thammudu and Khushi.

5/7

What kind of roles do you like to play?

As an actor, we can play a role effectively only if we understand what the character is going through, and once we get into the skin of the character. So any good role which I feel connected with is something which I want to portray. If we talk about a dream role, then it would be Neelambari from Narasimha or Anjali from Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham. These are two extremely different roles, and I connected with.

6/7

How do you manage time during self-quarantine at home?

Since we get to stay home, one of the best parts is being able to spend time with family and take care of them. I get to help my mom with household chores and been trying my hand at cooking. Also, with so much time on hand, I work on rehearsing my part and dialogues for my next few short films, so that we are well prepared once quarantine ends. Not to forget, it also gives us ample time to work on some dance skills.

7/7

Do you have any future projects?

My future projects include two upcoming short films and a web series. We were in talks for a supporting role in a next production featuring an established hero, and then we landed up in quarantine. Hopefully, once this lockdown ends, things will be materialized.
