​Five Indian web series that are adapted/remade from foreign languages

Earlier there used to be a trend where remaking one successful film from one language to another language was a quite common thing in India and sometimes our filmmakers used to remake films from foreign languages as well. But now with the boom of the internet and streaming OTT platforms, the scenario has completely changed. ​‘Rana Naidu’

The Rana Naidu featuring Daggubati Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles is all set to stream on the digital platform on March 10th and it is a remake/adaption of the English crime series Ray Donovan.

‘Dead Pixels’

The popular British gamer comedy web series ‘Dead Pixels’ announced that it will be remaking its gamer comedy into a Telugu film, featuring Niharika Konidela and Harsha Chemudu in the lead roles.

​‘Citadel’

The multi-genre American series created by Josh Appelbaum starring Richard Madden as Citadel agent Mason Kane and Priyanka Chopra as Citadel agent Nadia Singh is getting remade in India with Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles and the series will be directed by Tollywood filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.

‘The Night Manager'

The Hindi crime thriller web series ‘The Night Manager 'featuring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Telugu girl Sobhita Dhulipala is said to be a remake of the 2016 British TV series based on John Le Carre’s novel of the same title. The Indian version also stars Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl, and Saswata Chatterjee in supporting roles.

​‘The Good Wife’

The Good Wife Indian legal and political drama is an OTT giant that is an adaptation of Robert King and Michaelle King’s original ‘The Good Wife’ and it is being directed in India and Hindi by Suparn Verma featuring Bollywood actress Kajol in the lead role.

​'Modern Love Hyderabad'

The recent 2022 romantic anthology OTT series directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, Venkatesh Maha, Uday Gurrala and Devika Bahudhanam is produced by Elahe Hiptoola. The series is based on the American TV series ‘Modern Love’ which is again an adaption of The New York Times weekly column ‘Modern Love’.
