Confirmed! Deepika Padukone brought on-board to star in Nag Ashwin's #Prabhas21

Nag Ashwin’s upcoming film with Prabhas, #Prabhas21, is one of his most-awaited films after Radhe Shyam and the makers have announced that they have Deepika Padukone on-board for the project.
While the team is yet to begin shoot for the project, the production house, Vyjayanthi Movies has been teasing fans about an update since Saturday evening. They even asked the fans to build up the amount of re-tweets on posts to get the update.However, after much ado, they announced that an update about the film will be provided on Sunday morning at 11 AM. “We’re extremely thrilled with the response guys! We love you. Surprise unveils at 11 AM tomorrow. Stay Tuned: http://bit.ly/VyjayanthiMovies.” (sic) they wrote.
Sunday morning saw fans head to their YouTube page and speculate that Deepika Padukone is being brought on-board for the project. There were also reports on Saturday that the Bajirao Mastani and Ram Leela actress has been signed for the project. Looks like they were right! The video they released at 11 AM announced, “As promised, here it is - our next big announcement! WELCOMING THE SUPERSTAR. #Prabhas @deepikapadukone @nagashwin7 @vyjayanthifilms #Prabhas21 #DeepikaPrabhas.” (sic)
The short video accompanying the announcement states that the production house had the privilege of working with some extraordinary actresses before and are pleased to have Deepika Padukone on-board now.

There was speculation of Deepika being on-board during the lockdown when the actress recommended her fans to watch Nag Ashwin’s Mahanati. While she recommended a few movies later on too, fans had considered it as a sign that Deepika is on-board for Nag Ashwin’s next with Prabhas. The director had announced that his next with Prabhas will begin shoot after he wraps up Radhe Shyam. Apart from Telugu, #Prabhas21 will also be made in Hindi and other South-Indian languages. Shoot for the film was supposed to commence from August but with Radhe Shyam’s shoot pushed due to the pandemic, it remains to be seen.

As for the genre of the film, everything from sci-fi to fantasy and historical fiction keeps making rounds, but Nag Ashwin is yet to confirm. #Prabhas21 will mark Deepika’s debut in Telugu and the film is expected to start rolling in April next year and aim for a release in 2022. The pre-production of the film is yet to begin too. Prabhas was last seen in the pan-Indian film Saaho, while Deepika Padukone was last seen in Chhapaak. Further details are awaited.
