Cyber crime complaint registered against negative campaign targeting Vijay Deverakonda's 'Family Star': Report

Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur star in 'Family Star', which hit theaters on April 5 and garnered mixed reviews from both audiences and critics alike.

Now, an official cybercrime complaint has been lodged by the makers due to ongoing negative campaigns that could potentially disrupt the film's performance.

According to Pinkvilla, a complaint has been filed at the Madhapur Police Station, alleging the circulation of fake propaganda and negativity regarding Vijay Deverakonda and 'Family Star'. In response, the police have taken active measures to trace fake user IDs. Cybercrime officials have assured the concerned parties that appropriate action will be taken.

The production company, alongside Vijay Deverakonda's personal manager Anurag Parvataneni and the president of his fan association, Nishant Kumar, decided to take a stand against these orchestrated attacks.


This isn't an isolated incident; actor Vishwak Sen raised similar concerns last month during the release of the Telugu movie 'Gaami', and the 2023 box office hit 'HanuMan', directed by Prasanth Varma, also faced such targeted attacks.



Directed by Prasuram Petla, 'Family Star' is a family drama featuring Vijay as a young man who goes to great lengths to save his family from any adverse occurrences. It also features Divyansha Kaushik, Rohini Hattangadi, and Ajay Ghosh in significant roles. Gopi Sundar is the music director of the movie. According to Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 8.95 crore at the box office in its first two days of release.
