Madame Tussauds: Kajal Aggarwal joins the elite list of Indian actresses to own a wax statue

On Wednesday, Kajal Aggarwal became the first South Indian actress to be immortalised as a wax statue at the popular Madame Tussauds museum in Singapore. Along with her family, the 34-year-old diva jetted off to the Lion City a few days ago for the unveiling of her statue. Though she looked gorgeous at the event in a purple pantsuit, the real scene-stealer was the wax figure which is draped in a gold embellished gown with one-sided caped sleeve and fishtail hem.

After Mahesh Babu and Prabhas, Kajal is the third south Indian actor to achieve this honour at the Singapore franchise of the elite museum. She is also the 11th Indian actress to get inducted into Madame Tussauds. Check out who are the remaining divas.

Priyanka Chopra

Bold bombshell Priyanka Chopra is the first Bollywood actor to have wax statues in four separate Madame Tussauds wax museums across the world. Of her initiation to Madame Tussauds London, the 37-year-old globetrotting superstar said: "I love London; it has such an energy and spirit to it. Working with Madame Tussauds London's team has been so much fun. It's incredible to think that my fans can now meet my figure in one of my favourite cities in the world.”

Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai was the first Bollywood actress to have a prestigious Madame Tussauds figure created in the famous London attraction back in 2004. After a decade, the 46-year-old diva got another wax statue in New York which is inspired by her look at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010.

Sridevi

From a child actor to romancing a slew of superstars during teenage and later a mesmerising diva, Sridevi will be fondly remembered by the Indian film fraternity and movie lovers all across the globe. In September 2019, the wax figure of the legendary actress was unveiled at Singapore’s Madame Tussauds. The statue is a replica of Sridevi’s look in the hit Hindi film song, Hawa Hawai from ‘80s film, Mr India.

Sunny Leone

In 2018, Bollywood bombshell Sunny Leone unveiled her wax figure at Madame Tussauds in New Delhi. Draped in a black plunging-neckline sleeveless gown with a thigh-high slit, the 38-year-old actress said at the event “I am very happy and completely in awe of my statue. So many people have worked for a long time to get my wax figure in correct shape. I really appreciate the hardwork. It is an amazing feeling. I am glad to be chosen for this incredible honour.”

Anushka Sharma

In November 2018, Anushka Sharma’s statue was unveiled at the Singapore branch of Madame Tussauds. She is the first Indian celebrity to have an interactive wax statue which can hold a phone inviting visitors to snap a selfie with her. These photos can also be digitally shared with friends and family. During the launch, Anushka was seen in a hot off-shoulder black pantsuit.

Deepika Padukone

In 2019, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone unveiled a wax statue of herself at Madame Tussauds London. The 34-year-old beauty shared her excitement at getting a wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London. "As a little girl, I was a very curious kid, for me, a little girl, I was a very curious kid, for me, purpose is something that is very important. However, big or small, whatever I am doing in my life, purpose and why we do what we do is very important to me,” she said in a statement.

Kareena Kapoor

In 2011, Kareena Kapoor’s wax statue was inaugurated at the prestigious Madame Tussauds in London. Draped in a red saree, the figure resembles the sexy diva’s look from the song 'Chammak Challo' in RA. One. However, for the initial years, the statue was dressed based on Kareena’s character in Jab We Met.

Madhuri Dixit

In 2012, the wax statue of legendary Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in London. Speaking at the inauguration, the 52-year-old diva said “I am thrilled to be here in Madame Tussauds unveiling a wax figure of myself. It's incredible just how detailed the figure is - they have captured my look beautifully! I feel very humbled to be included alongside other Bollywood stars and some of my personal heroes.”

Katrina Kaif

In 2015, Katrina Kaif unveiled her wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London and joined the new Bollywood setting as part of the popular wax-work museum's '15 years of Bollywood' celebration. Besides the UK, the 36-year-old actress owns figures in London and Delhi museums as well.

Kajol

In 2018, Kajol walked the red carpet at Madame Tussauds in Singapore to introduce her wax statue to the world. Accompanying the actress were Ajay Devgn and their daughter, Nysa. Dressed in a dark navy gown, the makers have got all the details right for Kajol’s statue and it looks like a replica to the actress.

Madhubala

In 2017, the wax statue of legendary actress Madhubala was unveiled by Madame Tussauds in New Delhi. The figure was inspired by her popular character Anarkali from the film Mughal-e-Azam. Fans and followers of the late iconic actress were delighted with Madhubala's wax statue.
