Allu Arjun seeks High Court relief over FIR in stampede tragedy during 'Pushpa 2' premiere

Tollywood star Allu Arjun has approached the Telangana High Court to quash an FIR filed against him following a tragic incident during the premiere of his film 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'. The event took place on December 4, 2024, at the Sandhya 70mm theatre in Hyderabad, where a stampede resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi and left her 13-year-old son, Sreetej, severely injured.

As per a report by 123telugu in his petition, Allu Arjun requested a stay on all legal proceedings, including any potential arrest. His legal counsel argued that the actor was unaware of the chaos outside the theatre as he was inside at the time of the incident. They also noted that the production team had informed theatre management and the Assistant Commissioner of police about his arrival to prevent any mishaps.

The theatre management corroborated this, stating they had requested additional police presence to manage the crowd. However, they claimed that only a limited number of officers were deployed despite their requests.

The FIR against Allu Arjun and his security personnel was filed by the Chikkadpally Police based on a complaint from Revathi's husband. The police have charged Allu Arjun, his team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for their alleged negligence in managing the crowd during the premiere. Following the incident, three individuals associated with the theatre were arrested, including one of its owners and a senior manager.

The stampede occurred when a large crowd surged to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun as he arrived at the theater with his family.
