6 Tollywood stars who’ve debuted with super hit films

It should come as no surprise that some of our favourite Tollywood stars have acquired massive hits in their debut outing itself. These box office successes drive them to do everything in their power to ensure their future films are hits. This feat establishes fan bases and these actors will gradually become the most bankable stars with proven box office records. Although audience don’t expect much from the newcomers, the latter try very hard to attract them into the theatres. They give their 100 per cent to their films. Check out six Tollywood stars who had a fantastic debut at the ticket counters in both the Telugu states.

2/7

Ram Charan – Chirutha

Ram Charan’s entry in the jail sequence is still one of the most talked about debut scenes ever. Upon its giant release, 'Chirutha’ turned out to a blockbuster hit and Ram Charan won a million hearts with his energetic dancing and fighting skills. Charan became the handsome, brave and talented man Tollywood was waiting for. It was Mani Sharma’s extraordinary soundtrack that also played a part in the film’s huge success. ‘Chirutha’ was directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by C Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies production banner.

3/7

Mahesh Babu – Raja Kumarudu

Mahesh Babu came and conquered. His first step into the film industry was a good one. People saw a brand new powerhouse of talent in ‘Raja Kumarudu’. He was extremely adorable and people wanted to see him again and again, especially girls. Bollywood actress Preity Zinta starred opposite Mahesh in the film. Apart from the lead artists’ performance and Mahesh’s cute looks, the movie stood firm with the brilliant soundtrack. The K Raghavendra Rao directorial was produced by C Aswini Dutt under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies.

4/7

Nani - Ashta Chamma

Nani forayed into the film industry with ‘Ashta Chamma’, which was an adaption of Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest. Colours Swathi essayed the leading lady opposite Nani and their chemistry is one of the major highlights of the film. Thankfully, Nani played his cards well and earned a lot of accolades for his portrayal of Ram Babu in the film. He is one of the most bankable actors in Tollywood today. We also loved his ‘Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu’, ‘Ala Modalaindi’, ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ and ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’.

5/7

Ram Pothineni – Devadasu

Energetic star Ram Pothineni had the most auspicious start as ‘Devadasu’ went on to become a blockbuster hit. He romanced Ileana D’Cruz in the action-romantic film and the pair swept in our hearts. The film had raised many eyebrows at that time for its bold love scenes between Ram and Ileana. Ram not only has a cute pretty face but also good acting skills. The YVS Chowdary directorial was a commercial success and it earned Ram a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. Even though the actor has seen many highs and lows in his film career, his stardom is still maintained all along.

6/7

Vijay Devarakonda - Pelli Choopulu

The Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam directorial had Vijay Devarakonda playing a happy-go-lucky guy who finished his engineering and wants to do something new in his life. The film was a huge box office success and helped Vijay to prove himself as a complete actor and a hearthrob. Overall, the film earned generally favourable reviews and Vijay’s individual performance also spurred a positive response with critics labelling him ‘a feature megastar’. The actor’s stardom is only travelling in one direction.

7/7

Nithiin – Jayam

Nithiin is now a famous Tollywood actor. But he has had his share of struggles, despite being the son of renowned producer and distributor Sudhakar Reddy. He debuted as a lead actor in ‘Jayam’, which earned widely positive reviews. Nithiin earned critical praise for the portrayal of a middle-class college goer Venkataramana that’s as lively as the actor himself. The leading lady Sadha was also lauded for her convincing performance as a village belle Sujatha. The film eventually won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South.
