​5 Successful Indian super-hero Flicks of all time

We often see lots of Super Hero films from Hollywood getting dubbed in Indian languages and minting huge box-office collections here. There are some tens of such super hero’s internationally who frequently come up with a series of films with various settings.

Now, on account of ‘Hanuman’, a superhero film being made by Indian film-maker Prashanth Varma starring Teja Sajja in the lead role, let us have a look at the popular Indian super-hero characters and films that entertained Indian audiences so far here…!

​Hanuman

Hanuman is a Hindu god and is one of the most important personalities of the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ who acts as a superhero in protecting Lord Rama and his family besides helping fight Ravana of Lanka and bringing back Sita to Ayodhya.

The character Hanuman has got peculiar features and power that make him one of the most loved and worshipping personalities among Indian people of all age groups.

There have been several successful Animation feature films made on him so far / shown his character in various feature films that tell the story of ‘Ramayana’ but a full-length motion picture film around his world is yet to be made.

Now such an attempt is being made by Telugu filmmaker Prashanth Varma that tells the story of a fictional village Anjanadri with Teja Sajja in the lead role.

​Shaktimaan

This can be easily called the first superhero film and probably one of the most successful, fictional superheroes in India so far. The title character was played by Bollywood actor Mukesh Khanna who is also the producer for the series. The character fights the evil forces of society which are generally known to the public through his alternative role Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Shastri.

​Krissh

Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan’s Superhero film Krrish is one of the most successful movie series in Indian cinema. The film has come in 3 parts so far and has been super successful at the box office. Krrish possesses some supernatural abilities to fight the anti-social elements has a weakness for humanity and family.

​Chitti

The Tamil Science fiction action film 'Robot' written and directed by Shankar consists of a character called Chitti (an android humanoid robot) created by scientist K.Vaseegaran and it keeps changing its behaviour based on the software that gets upgraded to it which even exhibits human emotions at one point.

​‘Minnal Murali’

Minnal Murali is a Malayalam Super Hero flick made in 2021 starring Tovino Thomas in the lead role that has been well received by film critics and audiences alike. The superhero in this film is named ‘Jaison’ who got some superpowers with speed, agility, reflexes and strength.

Mugamoodi

This is a Tamil superhero film by Mysskin starring Tamil actors Jiva, Narain and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. While Nassar, Selva and Girish Karnad play other important roles in the film. The film is about a martial artist who can’t stand injustice and corruption and therefore turns into a vigilante to fight against them for a better society. The film opened to mixed reviews and it was dedicated to Bruce Lee.

​Ra.One (G.One)

This Hindi superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha stars Shah Rukh Khan playing double roles as Shekar Subramanium a game designer and G.One – a virtual superhero from a video game. The film is one of the most expensive Indian films made at the time of its release and it ended to receive mixed reviews for its content and praising its VFX.

Though there are still several films such as Siva Karthikeyan’s ‘Hero’, Shiva from Brahmastra, Hindi film Bhavesh Joshi by Harshavardhan Kapoor. Sniff by Amol Gupta. A Flying Jatt by Remo’Dsouza and a few others aren’t very successful at the Indian box office.
