Tollywood actor Nithiin and debutant director MS. Rajashekhar Reddy's mass action political drama 'Macherla Niyojakavargam' has managed to rake in the big bucks despite the negative reviews.
According to reports, the film managed to sail past the social media trolling and earn an impressive Rs 6.15 crores (Gross) on its first day at the ticket windows. Although many have trolled the film calling it an 'all-style and no-substance' movie, Nithiin's popularity has helped boost the film's performance to match the collections of some big Bollywood releases like Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' that earned Rs 7 crore and Rs 6.25 crore respectively on Friday.
While the film managed to set cash counters ringing on day 1, the bad reviews and negative buzz around the film is expected to affect collections on Day 2. The film is expected to earn a little less, which is reported to be around Rs 3 crores on its second day. However, as there are back-to-back festival holidays, the film will get a break-even based on its budget.
This political action thriller, written by SR Shekar aka MS Rajashekar Reddy, also stars Krithi Shetty and Catherine Tresa as the female leads. The film, that hit theatres on Friday, has Prasad Murella as the cinematographer. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao edited the film which has music and score composed by Mahathi Swara Sagar.
The film also stars other popular actors such as Rajendra Prasad, Samuthirakani, Vennela Kishore, Murali Sharma, Jayaprakash, Brahmaji and Subhalekha Sudhakar playing other important roles in the film.
