Actor Suriya has finally drawn attention amid the ongoing online chatter surrounding 'Karuppu' and the controversy involving actor-politician Vijay. While the star did not directly address the debate, a brief message shared on social media has become a talking point among fans. The actor posted a short note on his Instagram Stories on Thursday, just as discussions around the blockbuster film and Vijay's connection to it continued to dominate social media timelines.

Suriya's message sparks speculation

Without mentioning any individual or referring to the controversy, Suriya shared a simple yet thought-provoking message. “Lead with love. Stay kind. Stay generous.” The post contained no further explanation, but its timing immediately caught the attention of fans. Many interpreted it as a subtle response to the growing arguments between fan groups over comments made by members of the 'Karuppu' team.

How Vijay became part of the conversation

The controversy began when filmmaker and actor RJ Balaji spoke about Vijay's involvement during the early stages of the project. According to Balaji, he had previously narrated story ideas to Vijay and respected the actor's decision not to proceed with them.

“I felt his reasons were justified. I told him, ‘Sir, I absolutely respect your decision. Thank you so much.’ By then, I had already narrated two stories to him after he asked me if I had something suitable. I considered that itself a huge sign of respect for my work and creativity.” The discussion intensified after Balaji shared a photograph with Vijay on X following the election results.

The post that triggered fan backlash

In his social media post, RJ Balaji referred to Vijay as “the man who started it all for #Karuppu” and thanked him for his encouragement. The statement did not sit well with a section of Suriya's supporters, who argued that the film's success was increasingly being linked to Vijay despite Suriya being the lead star of the project. The debate quickly escalated online, with fans questioning the narrative surrounding the film's journey.

The controversy gained another layer when editor R Kalaivanan was asked during an interview how 'Karuppu' might have looked had Vijay headlined the film. Responding to the question, Kalaivanan said the film could have been “even more explosive” if it had been designed around Vijay's larger-than-life screen image.

The comment sparked immediate criticism from fans. Following the backlash, Kalaivanan issued a public apology on X, explaining that his remarks had been misunderstood and acknowledging that he could have expressed himself more carefully.

Suriya maintains silence

Despite the ongoing debate, Suriya has chosen not to comment on any of the statements made by his collaborators. His social media note remains the only public message shared during the controversy. Commercially, 'Karuppu' has emerged as a major success, crossing the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. The film currently stands as the highest-grossing release of Suriya's career and one of the biggest Tamil hits of the year.
