Tamil Songs that had Arabic style to it before 'Arabic Kuthu'

The most awaited song ‘Arabic Kuthu’ from Vijay’s ‘Beast’ was released on February 14. The song had more than 20 million views in less than 24 hours of its release. Produced by Sun Pictures, the movie is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and the music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The lyrics of the song was penned by Sivakarthikeyan. When the promo of the song was released a few days ago, it attracted a lot of attention and interest from the audience.

'Humma Humma' from Bombay

'Bombay’ was released in both Tamil and Hindi. The music for the movie was composed by AR Rahman and the song ‘Humma Humma’ has Arabic music along with a rap style to it. The song was later remade as well for the Hindi movie ‘Ok Jaanu’ – the Hindi version of ‘Ok Kanmani’ in 2017. The lyrics of ‘Humma Humma’ was written by Vairamuthu. The song has more than 270 million views on YouTube.

'Irukkana' from Nanban

‘Nanban’ is a remake of the Hindi film ‘3 Idiots’. The music of the movie was composed by Harris Jayaraj. The song ‘Irukkana’ has an Arabic style to it along with the costumes and décor as well. The lyrics of the song was written by Pa Vijay. This song is also from a Vijay movie.

'Hayati' from Chekka Chivantha Vaanam

‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ was directed by Mani Ratnam and the music for the movie was composed by AR Rahman. The song ‘Hayati’ which portrays Arun Vijay and Aishwarya Rajesh in UAE has an arabic singing style, lyrics to it. The lyrics of the song was written by Shiv and Mayssa Karaa

'Mayya Mayya' from Guru

‘Guru’ was released in both Hindi and Tamil. The music for the movie was composed by AR Rahman. ‘Mayya Mayya’ song from the movie has an Arabic style to it and it was sung by Chinmayi. The lyrics of the song was written by Vairamuthu.

Arabu Naade' from Thottal Poo Malarum

'Thottal Poo Malarum’ music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The song ‘Arabu Naade Asandhu Nikkum’ has an Arabic style to it. Though the lyrics of the song is in Tamil, the music used in between and also the beginning of the song has Urdu and Hindi lyrics to it. The lyrics of the song was written by Vaali.
