Sathru Music Review: Sathru is a cop film and one usually follows a certain template when the genre falls into a commercial space — an introduction song, a romantic song and a fitting theme song. That pretty much sums up Sathru, too. However, Amrish has given his own interpretation to this template.

Acham Neeki

by Amrish is a power-packed opening song for the protagonist Kathir, who plays a police officer in the film. The lyrics suggest the job he does all day, and the tune has a western vibe. Amrish renders this with ease and brings in the vigour the song demands. It has a mild Hiphop Tamizha feel, though. This is followed by the romantic

Kadhalikka Ingu Neramilla

by Sharath Santhosh and Nancy Vincent. The song starts off on a nice note with Sharath’s vocals, followed by Nancy’s offbeat rendition. The song thrives on strings, with a lovely violin interlude. Though it has a nice tune, in some portions, we felt it was too template-ish. Then there is

Neram Indha Neram

by Tippu and Suchitra. This one, too, is a romantic song. Though both the songs are melodious, there is a difference between the two. Tippu is simply at ease with this genre. And Suchitra, whose voice we haven’t heard in a long time, croons in her own unique style. This romantic track works better than the previous one. Lastly, there is Sathru Theme by Amrish. This one is similar to Petta Theme (by Anirudh), what with the same trumpet opening. The similarity is so uncanny. However, the music definitely works for the story!
