AR Rahman planned several musical concerts with SP Balasubramanyam

AR Rahman had planned several musical concerts with the late singer SP Balasubramanyam. Last January, AR Rahman happened to watch a video clip of SP Balasubramanyam singing the song 'En Kadhale' which featured in the film ‘Duet’ at a musical show. SP Balasubramanyam perfectly crooned the song, just the way he did when the film had released in 1994. AR Rahman had then immediately contacted the musician and asked to work on 'unplugged concerts' featuring a compilation of songs.
SP Balasubramanyam was much impressed with the idea and came readily on board.Both the musicians had then worked out all the arrangements for the concert but it was delayed due to the pandemic. "We need to celebrate and resolve him instead of being worried about him," reminiscing the musician, AR Rahman said in his latest video.
Interestingly, SP Balasubramanyam had sung many songs with music composed by AR Rahman. The celebrated singer's last song 'Engae Pogudho' and 'Medhuvagathan' were indeed AR Rahman's compositions for Rajinikanth starrer 'Kochadiayaan'.
'Padum Nila' SB Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25 in Chennai. He was laid to rest at his farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam, with full state honors.
