‘Vishwaroopam 2’ trailer: 5 scenes to look forward to in Kamal Haasan-starrer

‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated trailer of ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is finally out and boy, the film looks all gripping and thrilling on many levels. It’s been five years since the first part released and the sequel looks like it is definitely worth the wait. The trailer has opened to a fantastic response from fans all over the world and has clocked in more than two million views within 12 hours on YouTube. With ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ finally hitting the screens on August 10, here are five scenes to look forward to in the sequel.

Who is Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri?

At the trailer launch of ‘Vishwaroopam 2’, Kamal Haasan made an interesting revelation. He said that the film is not only a sequel but a prequel as well. Now, doesn’t that sound exciting? However, it looks like ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ will take us back in time to Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri’s past and how he became a RAW agent. Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film. Reports suggest that she might play Kamal Haasan’s mother in ‘Vishwaroopam 2’. However, nothing has been confirmed yet. If the trailer is anything to go by, then the sequel is likely to establish the storyline of how Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri ended up training in Al Qaeda along with the menacing Omar Qureshi (Rahul Bose).

Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri’s undercover operation

Apart from the story and soundtrack, ‘Vishwaroopam’ received a phenomenal response for the ‘transformation’ scene, in which Vishwanathan, a Kathak dancer, reveals his identity -- that he’s a RAW agent named Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri. It’s later revealed that Wisam was assigned a task to inform about Omar Qureshi. There’s a portion in ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ trailer, where someone talks about an undercover operation that was assigned to Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri. On the other hand, a senior official in the agency tells Shekhar Kapur that he’s a collateral damage and we see someone firing at Kamal Haasan. The sequel will give us more details about Wisam’s undercover operation and whether or not he survives.

4/6

Kamal Haasan vs Rahul Bose

‘Vishwaroopam 2’ takes the story forward from where the first part ended. Unlike other sequels, the highlight of ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is that it’s a single story told in two parts. ‘Vishwaroopam’ ended with Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri and team diffusing a dirty bomb planted in the US. It ended with a cliffhanger with Wisam thwarting Omar Qureshi’s plan. Going by trailer, ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ looks to be an out-and-out action thriller that will have several breathtaking stunt sequences. In the sequel, too, Kamal Haasan will take on Rahul Bose and Jaideep Ahlawat, who play the characters Omar Qureshi and Salim respectively. The sequel will also reveal what happened between Wisam and Omar in Afghanistan after the drone strike by the US Intelligence team. The cat-and-mouse game between Kamal Haasan and Rahul Bose is one of the things to look forward to in the film.

5/6

Dirty bomb in India

‘Vishwaroopam 2’ will see Kamal Haasan taking on global terrorism. He will be teaming up with Shekhar Kapur, Andrea Jeremiah and Pooja Kumar to arrest Omar Qureshi, leader of a powerful terrorist organisation, and his sidekick Salim. Unlike the first part, the sequel is set in India and the trailer gives us a glimpse of what we could expect from ‘Vishwaroopam 2’. There’s a scene, where Omar Qureshi sets up a dirty bomb somewhere in India. Was Wisam’s successful in his mission? Well, only time will tell. Reports say that Andrea Jeremiah and Shekhar Kapur will have a longer screen space this time. Going by the video, the film will also have some sensuous scenes of Kamal Haasan and Pooja Kumar, who plays his wife called Nirupama in the film.

6/6

Breathtaking action sequences

When was the last time we saw an underwater action sequence in Indian cinema? ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is written in such a way that it’s easily on par with some of the best Hollywood action-thrillers. Made on a lavish budget, the makers reportedly spent a bomb on the underwater action sequence, which is said to be one of the highpoints of the film. The trailer also showcases several breathtaking stunt moments featuring Kamal Haasan. Apparently, Haasan himself performed all the stunts without a body double for ‘Vishwaroopam 2’. When the first part released in 2013, it was unanimously appreciated by critics for depicting the Al Qaeda camp in Afghanistan. With ‘Vishwaroopam 2’, it’s safe to say that the war sequences that come in the trailer are likely to strike a chord with the audiences.
