Every time two stars are considered to be rivals when they release their films on the same day, one hand fans gear up like an army to show their love and support at the theatres placing their banners and cut-outs and fighting to get the best screens for their hero film. On the other hand, it's a tension for theatre owners to pacify both the hero fans by allocating the screens and tickets as smoothly as possible but still when things get out of control, it is the theatre that gets hit by fans' anger and in turn, their properties get damaged.
The same happened today in Chennai's hot center for big releases, Rohini Theatre, where Vijay's 'Varisu' and Ajith's 'Thunivu' released and had
Vijay fans and
Ajith fans clash with each other fiercely leading to the tearing and removing of the banners of both the heroes and police had to lathi-charge the fans to bring the situation under control.
We ETimes tried to reach out to Nikilesh Surya, the owner of Rohini Theatre to know what is the situation in Rohini Theatre after all the ramshackle and lathi-charge on the fans by the police, but he was unavailable to answer our call. However our sources at the theatres say Vijay and Ajith's fans are being pacified to maintain peace and let the preceding shows go on smoothly. Another unfortunate incident happened just near Rohini Theatre, where an Ajith fan succumbed to death after he jumped out of a slow-moving lorry in excitement while dancing. Police have registered a case and are investigating the details. This incident is surely a black mark for theatres having FDFS at 4 am and rise the question of the safety of people watching star films at 4 am shows.
Usually, the majority of Tamil Nadu theatre owners and distributors don't welcome two big stars films released on the same day these days, unlike the previous generation, as it is difficult to manage the fans and control them when anything goes wrong, immediately fans damage the properties of the theatres just like that incurring losses to the theatres and also rises the safety of the people when assembled during the FDFS of big star films.
