'Thunivu' to 'Billa': Ajith's fascination with interesting titles

Ajith has joined hands with director H Vinoth for an upcoming film titled 'Thunivu'. The superstar, who seems to have a fascination with short and stunning titles too went for the same with the H Vinoth directorial. The title of the film was launched recently along with Ajith's look from the film. Ajith starrers have been getting titles starting with ‘V’ of late, however, ‘Thunivu’ broke that jinx. But this title too has something interesting about it. It has three Tamil letters in it! Well, Ajith’s fascination with titles having three letters didn’t begin here, it goes a long way back! 'Billa'

Ajith joined hands with Vishnu Varadhan to recreate Rajinikanth's 'Billa' and the upgraded version also had the same title. Ajith's 'Billa' (பில்லா) is the first film of the actor to have the 3 letter Tamil word as a title, and the film was a blockbuster at the box office. Ajith played a dual role in the gangster drama, and Yuvan Shankar Raja's music added more power to the film.

'Aasal'

Ajith teamed up with director Saran for the fourth time for 'Aasal' and the film was high on expectations. Ajith played a dual role as a father and son, and the thriller had 'Aasal' (அசல்) as the title, after the protagonist’s name. Despite the tricky three letters title , the film failed at the box office, and got mixed reviews.

'Veeram'

Ajith and director Siruthai Siva teamed up for the first time with the film 'Veeram' (வீரம்) in 2014. The action thriller was well received, thanks to the title (or not)! Later the duo collaborated for three other films.

'Valimai'

Ajith's cop drama 'Valimai' is the actor's last release, and the film grossed over Rs 200 crores at the box office and was declared a mega-hit. 'Valimai' (வலிமை) title looked apt for the film as the film speaks about the strength of the lead character. Ajith played a cop, and the film impressed the family audience.

'Thunivu'

Ajith's upcoming film with director Vinoth reportedly deals with a bank robbery, and the makers titled the film 'Thunivu'. The title 'Thunivu' (துணிவு) explains the bravery of the lead character, and how gutsy he is. Ajith is reportedly playing a dual role as the hero and villain.
