Thalapathy Vijay refused to act in 'Sandakozhi' for THIS reason, reveals director Lingusamy

Directed by Lingusamy, 'Sandakozhi' marked the second film of Vishal as an actor, and the action-packed film turned out to be important in the actor's career. In a YouTube interview with Behindwoods, director Lingusamy revealed that Vijay was the initial choice for 'Sandakozhi', and the director revealed the reason why he refused to act in the film. Vijay was heavily impressed when director Lingusamy narrated the first half of 'Sandakozhi', but the actor straight away said no when the director began narrating the second half. Since the film focused on Rajkiran's character and the story had caste glorification, Lingusamy then opted to go with Vishal in the lead role, and it was a big hit for the actor. However, Vijay later congratulated Lingusamy for the success of 'Sandakozhi', and he even praised Vishal as the right choice for the film.

Lingusamy also feels that Vishal is the right selection for 'Sandakozhi', and the director said that the action drama might not have worked out if he had opted for another actor.


'Sandakozhi' features Vishal, Meera Jasmine, and Rajkiran in the lead roles, and the film also had a sequel later in 2018, while Keerthy Suresh replaced Meera Jasmine as the female lead.
