Tarun Gopi to direct an action drama, Yaanai, next

Popular filmmaker Tarun Gopi, known for helming movies like Thimiru and Kaalai, is all set to start work on his next. Titled Yaanai, the film is said to be an action entertainer and will go on floors soon.

A source says, “Tarun had been working on Veri: Thimiru 2, in which he was playing the lead. While that film has been delayed, he had started and finished work on Aruva. And now, he is all set to direct Yaanai. The film will star Antony, who played the lead in Lenin Bharathi’s award-winning Merkiu Thodarchi Malai. The heroine is yet to be signed, but the makers have almost finalized the actress. The female lead will have an equally strong character. Iniyan is handling the cinematography while VT Vijayan will take care of editing. Stunt choreographer Kanal Kannan, art director Mani Karthik and choreographers Dinesh master and Brinda master are onboard the film. The music director is yet to be finalized.”

Tarun Gopi, who has also dabbled as an actor in the film Mayandi Kudumbathar, says Yaanai will have action and sentiments in equal parts. “When a woman marries, she has to enter her new home like a daughter, and not daughter-in-law. Similarly, a man has to become a son to his wife’s family. When that basic is not met, it can lead to trouble in paradise,” he says, adding, “The film will go on floors by the end of this month and we will be shooting in Pattukottai, Pudhukottai and Dindigul, among other places.”
