Seema Raja: Five reasons to watch Sivakarthikeyan’s film

Sivakarthikeyan is all set for the release of the rural entertainer ‘Seema Raja’, which is hitting the screens tomorrow on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Releasing alongside Samantha Akkineni-starrer ‘U Turn’, Sivakarthikeyan has lots riding on ‘Seema Raja’. With the film releasing tomorrow, we give you five reasons to catch ‘Seema Raja’ in theatres.

Sivakarthikeyan’s third film with Ponram

In a short span of time, Sivakarthikeyan has established himself as one of the big names among the younger lot. Most of his films have turned out to be extremely successful at the box office, thereby making Siva one of the the most bankable stars. Last seen in the blockbuster entertainer ‘Velaikkaran’, Sivakarthikeyan is all set for his next ‘Seema Raja’, which marks his third successful collaboration with Ponram. Earlier to this, Siva and Ponram have teamed up in films like ‘Rajini Murugan’ and ‘Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam’, which became blockbuster hits. Now, ‘Seema Raja’ has created high expectations among fans and rightly so. Will Siva-Ponram combination yield result this time? Only time will tell.

The story of Seema Raja

If the trailer is anything to go by, ‘Seema Raja’ is a typical Sivakarthikeyan-Ponram film, where the duo play to the gallery. The film revolves around two families who have been at war for generations. Set in Madurai, ‘Seema Raja’ will see Sivakarthikeyan playing the titular role, while Simran has been roped in to play the main antagonist. According to reports, the scenes between Simran and Siva are touted to have come out very well. On the other hand, Ponram is known for his comedy portions and ‘Seema Raja’ doesn’t seem to disappoint the audience. It has the hit combo -- Soori and Sivakarthikeyan reuniting together. The trailer promises an out-and-out commercial entertainer and the film is written in such a way that it’s likely to strike a chord with the masses.

4/6

Period portion

Going by reports, one of the main attraction of ‘Seema Raja’ is the period portion that comes in the film. In fact, there’s a scene in the trailer that showed Sivakarthikeyan in a ‘Baahubali’ like makeover. After the trailer launch, fans also compared the scene to the Prabhas-starrer. Interestingly, ‘Seema Raja’ will see Sivakarthikeyan playing a Tamil King in the flashback portion and the makers reportedly spent a bomb on the VFX. According to reports, ‘Seema Raja’ will have a 20-minute period portion that was shot in Talakona forest. Going by reports, the film will showcase the rise and fall of a mighty Tamil King in the flashback portion. Now that’s exciting, isn’t?

5/6

Good supporting cast

The main highlight of ‘Seema Raja’ is its promising supporting cast that includes some big names. Basking in the success of back-to-back hits, actress Samantha Akkineni is teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan for the first time in this one. Samantha reportedly plays the romantic interest. On the other hand, the film also stars senior actress Simran Bagga playing a negative role. Reports suggest that ‘Seema Raja’ will see Siva locking horns with Simran. Actor-comedian Soori, a frequent collaborator, will provide the comical relief, while actors Napolean, Lal, Yogi Babu and Manobala will be seen in important roles. With such names being part of the film, ‘Seema Raja’ should be an interesting watch.

6/6

Music by D Imman

D Imman is the soul of ‘Seema Raja’. The music composer has given some of the chartbusting numbers to Sivakarthikeyan in the past. Even in this one, Imman’s songs have been well-received by the audience, especially the number ‘Machakanni’ featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha. The film marks Imman;s third association with Ponram and Siva after their ‘Rajini Murugan’ and ‘Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam’. More than the story, fans are looking forward to the songs in ‘Seema Raja’. The rousing number ‘Varen Varen Seema Raja’, which seems to be the introductory song of Sivakarthikeyan, has also been received well by fans. Another reason to look forward to is the background score.
