‘Saamy Square’: Five reasons to watch Chiyaan Vikram’s film

‘Saamy Square’ starring Chiyaan Vikram in the lead is easily one of the most awaited sequels in Tamil. After much delay, the film is finally gearing up for a release tomorrow. Despite mixed reactions to its trailer, ‘Saamy Square’ has good expectations among fans and is likely to take strong opening at the box office this Friday. Here are five reasons to catch ‘Saamy Square’ in theatres.

2/6

Vikram + Hari

Every time Vikram teamed up with Hari, the box-office result was inevitable. After many years, the duo is working together for ‘Saamy Square’, which has been in the production for quite sometime now. The sequel is as important for Vikram as it is for Hari. Over the last few years, Vikram has seen several flops than hits and it’s for ‘Saamy Square’ to work at the box office. Reportedly, the makers have spent a lavish amount to bankroll ‘Saamy Square’, which is scheduled for a worldwide release tomorrow. A lot is riding on Vikram and Hari. Will the duo once again spell magic on the screen? We have to wait and watch.

3/6

Blockbuster success of Saamy

In several ways, ‘Saamy’ is arguably one of the best commercial films ever. Directed by Hari, the film tells the story of an honest cop Aarusaamy, who is pitted against a powerful politician in the form of Perumal Pichai (Kota Srinivasa Rao). Aarussamy takes charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Tirunelveli and the rest of the story is about how he tackles the various problems that arise through Perumal Pichai. Upon release in 2003, ‘Saamy’ went on to become a monstrous hit at the box office. In fact, the film has earned a cult following for several reasons. Nearly after 15 years, Hari and Vikram have teamed up for its sequel, ‘Saamy Square’, which promises to be an entertaining film. Will the sequel manage to woo the audience, just like its predecessor? Well, only time will tell.

4/6

The return of Aarusaamy

Much to everyone's expectations, ‘Saamy Square’ will see Vikram returning as the foul-mouthed cop Aarusaamy. The teaser and trailer have promised an out-and-out action flick from Hari. The film is reported to be a revenge story that takes place years after the death of Perumal Pichai (Kota Srinivasa Rao). Going by the trailer, it looks like ‘Saamy Square’ is packaged in such a way that it’s likely to work with the mass audience. Reports, on the other hand, suggest that Vikram will be seen playing dual roles in the film.

5/6

Good supporting cast

Apart from Vikram, ‘Saamy Square’ has some big names playing prominent roles in the sequel. For starters, the film stars Keerthy Suresh as the leading lady, who is teaming up with Vikram for the first time in this one. Reportedly, Keerthy Suresh plays the role of Vikram’s love interest in the film. On the other hand, Aishwarya Rajesh has been roped in to play Vikram’s wife in the film. It must be noted that Trisha Krishnan was initially cast in the film, reprising her role as Bhuvana. However, the actress opted out of the project due to reasons unknown. ‘Saamy Square’ has Bobby Simha playing the main antagonist and will be seen locking horns with Vikram. The film also has Soori, John Vijay, Delhi Ganesh and Uma Riyaz playing supporting roles.

6/6

Music by Devi Sri Prasad

Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad is reuniting with Hari after a long time in ‘Saamy Square’ and the album has already gotten a good response from the audience. Particularly, the songs ‘Pudhu Metro Rail’, sung by Vikram and Keerthy Suresh, and ‘Molagapodiye’ have become smash hits. Devi Sri Prasad is widely known for his rousing background score in films like ‘Singam’ and ‘Poojai’. One of the major highlights will the background score for ‘Saamy Square’. Interestingly, DSP has also retained the main theme music of ‘Saamy’, which was composed by Harris Jayaraj.
