'Ponniyin Selvan 2' to 'Leo': Tamil movies that are expected to make box office records this year!

Apart from Vijay's 'Varisu' and Ajith's 'Thunivu', 2023 seems to be an important year for the Tamil film industry as many big films of the stars are scheduled for a release. Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ponniyin Selvan' is a historic epic drama adapted from the fictional novel. Starring Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles, the first part of the movie was released on September 30, 2022 and the second part of the movie is set to release in theatres on April 28. The movie was a blockbuster and made milestone box office records in India and abroad, so it is expected that the second part will also be a box office hit. The film's music is composed by AR Rahman and the rest of the film's cast include Sarathkumar, parthiban, Sobhitha Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi.

Tentatively earlier called as 'Thalapathy 67', Vijay's next has been titled 'Leo'. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film falls under his cinematic universe. The music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The shooting for the movie is currently happening in Kashmir and the film is set to release on October 19. 'Leo's cast includes Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan and Mathew Thomas.

Directed by Siva the film features Suriya and Disha Patani in the lead roles. The film is touted to be an action adventure and the movie makers are making it with a huge budget. it is also stated that the film will be made in 3D in 10 different languages. The movie is tentatively titled 'Suriya 42'.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Jailer' features Rajinikanth in the lead role. The movie is an action drama and is reportedly said that the superstar can be seen in his old form performing stunning action and fight sequences. The film's cast includes Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Shiva Rajkumar and Yogi Babu. Mohanlal is said to play a cameo role in the film. The film is scheduled to release for Diwali this year and is expected to make box office records as it will have Rajinikanth playing an action hero after a long time.

The music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the film is reportedly scheduled for release in November. The movie is expected to make milestone box office records as it is a sequel of a successful old Tamil film.
