Nayanthara’s new film: Clash of the titles?

Nayanthara’s upcoming film Annapoorani: The Goddess Of Food has run into a controversy over its title as another film that’s in the making also bears a similar title. That film, titled Annapoorni, starring Lijomol Jose and Losliya, had gone on floors on April 22, 2022.
“Our film’s title is derived from the names of the two protagonists — Anna and Poorni, played by Losliya and Lijomol respectively.We got an NOC from a producer who had the rights to this title and got it registered at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce,” informs Lional Joshua, the film’s debutant director.
He states that the makers of the Nayanthara film had reached out to them in June, “but since we had shot the film, we could not accept their request”. He adds, “That’s why it’s surprising that they still went ahead and named their film with a similar title.”
