'Jana Nayagan': When and how will the Thalapathy Vijay starrer clear censorship? What's next for H. Vinoth's directorial
The producers of Thalapathy Vijay's film were already compelled to initiate legal action against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on account of the delay and procedural hurdles in the certification process. The filmmakers viewed the legal action as an emphatic reply to a hindrance they thought undeserving in the certification process of the film. Yet, with the committee process now having a frame and the certification route pressing ahead, the producers have determined to take back the case and are now following the official procedure of CBFC rather than the litigation.
Post viewing of 'Jana Nayagan,' the Revising Committee will provide its observations and recommendations in the form of a report. As per The Hindu, this report will be forwarded by the CBFC Chennai regional office to the board’s headquarters in Mumbai. Based on the feedback received from Mumbai, the final communication will be sent to the producers. If the committee suggests any cuts or modifications and the Mumbai board accepts those recommendations, the makers will implement them, after which the CBFC will issue the certification. If any fresh obstacles arise again, the producers still have the legal option to return to court, with no procedural restrictions on doing so.
The reason for the lawsuit was mainly due to communication difficulties arising from sluggishness, ineffective communication, and troublesome certification decision-making. The makers thought it important that the process be transparent in order to show the film, but with the kind of problems that they were running into, it was affecting its release plans negatively. The goal of the litigation was to strive for unanimity and accountability and to set a specific time frame for certification. Now, after the Revising Committee route is opened, instead of going to court, the group is trying to find a solution on an institutional level.
Directed by H. Vinoth, 'Jana Nayagan' is said to be a commercial potboiler laced with action-packed plots, hard-hitting messages, and a lot of emotions. Alongside Vijay, the film also features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Menon, and more. The movie is a big-budget film made by one of the top production houses, assisted by a huge technical team comprising music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, and editor Pradeep E. Raghav.
