It was my husband who helped me do this challenging film: Anandhi

Pariyerum Perumal fame Kayal Anandhi will be playing the lead role in the upcoming film Mangai that talks about womanhood. The film, directed by Gubenthiran Kamatchi, also stars Dushi, who had played the role in Easan, with Rams and Adithya Kathir in important roles. Gubenthiran says that the film revolves around a man’s view of a woman and narrates the experiences a woman encounters on a journey from Munnar to Chennai.

“It will portray the difference between men and women, which is why we kept Mangai as the title. We hope to alter the mindset that men have towards women,” he says.

“When I listened to the script, initially I thought I may not be able to do this, because it has a lot of shocking things and strong dialogues which will empower the audience. But my husband motivated me by saying, ‘No, You’re an actor, so think from that point of view.’ That helped me come out of my comfort zone,” says Anandhi.
