Her performance in the recently released
Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum
has been appreciated by many. And
Shilpa Manjunath, needless to say, is quite thrilled with the response she’s been getting. The actress plays Tara, a non-nonsense woman, in Ranjit Jayakodi’s film, which has
Harish Kalyan playing the lead.
Ask Shilpa, who was last seen in Vijay Antony’s Kaali in
Kollywood
, how much she relates to the character that she’s playing in this romantic entertainer, and she answers, “Actually, Ranjit had auditioned quite a few people for this role and he said he was looking for somebody very real when he was casting. I think he found my body language quite similar to the character he had written. I always keep my neck straight and look at somebody in the face when I talk to them. If somebody is staring at me, I’d confront the person and ask why they are doing it. In fact, there are some scenes in the film that are based on my real characteristics. But Tara is a sweetheart, and would patiently listen to someone even if they are scolding her. But, I don’t take it lying down. I can say that 50 per cent of Tara is inside me, and 50 per cent of Shilpa is inside Tara; I can easily relate to the character.”
