Happy that Sowcar Janaki amma chose ours as her 400th film: Kannan

After Tara Alisha Berry and Swathi Muppala, the latest one to join the team of Santhanam’s film with Kannan is Sowcar Janaki. The veteran actress has already shot for 10 days, and will be part of the whole schedule in Chennai.A thrilled Kannan says, “Though she has done a few films in Telugu in recent years, she hasn’t done one in Tamil in a long time. So, I was a little sceptical when I approached Janaki amma for the role. But she really liked her character and came on board. She wanted her 400th film to be special and had been looking for good stories. I’m very happy that she chose this film to mark her landmark film.”Sowcar Janaki plays Kasthoori, a quirky grandmother in the film. “She has done several interesting characters in her illustrious career, and is known for playing strong woman roles. But she’s equally known for pulling off fun characters as well. No one can forget her act in Thillu Mullu. This role is also like that. We were looking at someone who could pull off a fun grandmother’s role – she’s like the head of the family, has authority, and at the same time, is fun to be with. And we couldn’t think of anyone else but Jabaki amma for this role. She can hold her own and enhance any scene with her performance. She has scenes with Santhanam, Anandraj and Mottai Rajendran, and avangalukku counter kudukkanum-na ivangalala mattum dhaan mudiyum. We have already started shooting with her in a set erected near Porur,” he signs off.
