The elections of the Tamil Film Producers Council for the office bearers and executive committee members for the term of 2026-2029 will be held on February 22, 2026. Here, the “Producer Welfare” committee, led by G.M. Tamil Kumaran, released its list of candidates.
RK Suresh and S. Kamalakkannan have submitted their nominations for the post of vice president, R. Radhakrishnan and Kameela Nassar have filed nominations for the posts of secretaries, N. Subash Chandrabose has filed his nomination for the post of treasurer, and Sujatha Vijayakumar has submitted his nomination for the post of joint secretary.
The competitive race for executive positions begins
The election has seen participation from many veteran film producers and eminent personalities from the Tamil film fraternity. As per Nakkheeran, seasoned producers like Azhagan Thamizhmani, Chitra Lakshmanan, H. Murali, M. Kabar, R. Madesh, and many others, including Salai Sakadevan, Baija Tam, S. Jothi, V. Palanivel, and S.N. Rajarajan, are vying for various positions on the executive body. This diverse candidate list shows the highly competitive nature of the upcoming elections and the deep involvement of established industry players and new faces.
The ‘Producers’ Welfare’ panel introduced
The inaugural meeting of the "Producers' Welfare” panel was held on December 22nd, 2025. Kalaipuli S. Than, FEFSI Chairman R.K. Selvamani, Professor A.S. Prakasam, V.C. Kuganathan, music composers Thena and Lingusamy, director Saran, and many other guests were present. Kalaipuli S. Thanu introduced the candidates for the panel to the guests, acknowledging their dedication and stressing that there must be leadership that listens to the needs of producers.
