Decoding VIjay and Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo' promo; here are the things to look out for!

Vijay’s upcoming film with Lokesh Kanagaraj has been titled ‘Leo’ and the movie is reportedly stated to be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe following ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’. Earlier called as ‘Thalapathy 67’, the film’s official announcement was made on January 30 and the movie makers have announced the entire cast that includes Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, Mathew Thomas, Mysskin and Masoor Ali Khan.

The title promo of the film has been released, and here are the things you need to look out for from the near 3 minute long video!

​Title ‘Leo’


The movie has been titled ‘Leo’ and title look has the name printed on a chocolate coin. It is suspected the name ‘Leo’ represents the zodiac sign with lion and is trying to represent Vijay as the lion in the movie. The title can also refer to a gang mafia where a ‘Leo’ is referred to the boss. As the other two films, ‘Leo’ also uses the dominant colour red and fan theories focus on the symbol of a crab used.

​A chocolate factory owner


The promo shows how each and every cocoa bean is selected to make the perfect chocolate and fans decoding the story of the film state that Vijay will be playing the role of chocolate factory owner who is also an assassin. The promo focuses on the actor making both chocolates and weapons while being secluded. The only line that the actor says in the promo is “Bloody Sweet” and it is speculated that the actor denotes the taste of the chocolate.

​Lokesh Cinematic Universe


A number of proofs instilled in promo that assures that ‘Leo’ is part ofthe LCU – the cast includes agent Tina from ‘Vikram’, a scene shows the masked men in black which is similar to that of how Kamal Haasan appeared in ‘Viram’, the last scene where Vijay licks the chocolate with his finger as though he is tasting drug. It is no news that Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’ were the story was related to drugs. If you remember well, a scene in ‘Kaithi’ appears where a man who does not reveal his face to the camera informs Karthi that he used to work in a bakery before entering prison.

​Sword and Hammer


Similar to ‘Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ that focussed much on guns, ‘Leo’ focusses on the two weapons – a sword and hammer throughout the promo revealing that it is the iconic weapon in the film. The promo has Vijay dipping the freshly made sword into the chocolate before a huge action sequence.

​Bloody sweet song


The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the title song ‘Bloody Sweet’ is sung by Siddharth Basrur and Anirudh. The lyrics of the song is written by Heisenberg who previously had written the song ‘Wasted’ in ‘Vikram’. The lyrics focuses on the individual who prefers being alone and secluded whose main intent is to succeed. The song is now officially available on the streaming platform.
