Cochin Haneefa's 70th birth anniversary: Five memorable roles of the famous South Indian actor

Late actor Cochin Haneefa had acted in more than 300 films in Malayalam, and 90 films in Tamil. The skilled actor was capable of grabbing attention even though he appeared for a few minutes. His humorous dialogues and screen presence in famous films are still remembered by the fans. After starting his career as a director in Tamil with the 1988 film 'Paadatha Thenikkal', Cochin Haneefa changed gears from direction to acting. The famous South Indian actor passed away on February 2, 2010 due to illness. Today marks the 70th birth anniversary of Cochin Haneefa, so let's revisit his five memorable roles.

'Kaathala Kaathala'

Cochin Haneefa played the role of fraudulent godman in 'Kadhala Kadhala', which was directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Cochin Haneefa shared screen space with Kamal Haasan in the film, and his funny dialogues in the film are still cherished by the fans. Cochin Haneefa's character in the film held importance and it was the major reason for problems faced by lead characters.

'Mudhalvan'

Cochin Haneefa played an assistant to Raghuvaran in the political thriller 'Mudhalvan', which was directed by Shankar. Cochin Haneefa's tricky ideas and comical behavior highlighted his character well among the audience. 'Mudhalvan' is about a political battle between a common man(Arjun Sarja) and Chief Minister (Raghuvaran).

'Pattiyal'

Cochin Haneefa played the role of an agent, who fixes the work for the lead characters Arya and Bharath. But his character in the film is negative as he locks horns with Arya and Bharath at the film's climax. This role of Cochin Haneefa is different from the others, and his character was mainly highlighted by the director Vishnuvardhan.

'Sivaji'

After several movies, Cochin Haneefa shared the screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth in Shankar's directorial 'Sivaji'. Cochin Haneefa played the role of a Minister in the film. Cochin Haneefa is operated by the antagonist against Rajinikanth. But Rajinikanth threatens Cochin Haneefa in his office and makes him operate in favor of him. This scene in the film is the main one, and Cochin Haneefa played it well.

'Vettaikaran'

Cochin Haneefa played the role of a businessman in the action thriller 'Vettaikaran'. But he gets attacked by the antagonist played by Salim Ghouse. Then he decides to stand in support of Vijay in his fight against the antagonist Salim Ghouse. This was Cochin Haneefa's last film before his demise, while few were released after February 2010.
