#ChennaiRains in Tamil films

The 2015 Chennai floods are still a fresh memory for everyone in Tamil Nadu. Lakshmy Ramakrishnan's House Owner, a minimalist and moving tale of an elderly couple, is set against backdrop of the torrential rains of 2015. They provide suspense and create suspense in this drama about a caring wife trying to deal with the mood swings of her husband, who has Alzheimer's, and their efforts at survival when their house gets flooded.

Comali

Taking a leaf out of VIP2, Comali, directed by Pradeep Ranganathan, uses the 2015 Chennai rains as a plot device for its climax. Velaiilla Pattadhari 2

In Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, director Soundarya Rajinikanth uses the 2015 Chennai floods to bring her protagonist and antagonist together in the climax. Dhanush's smart engineer Raghuvaran, and his arrogant rival Vasundhara end up stranded on the top floor of her office on account of the flood and as the converse, they realise each other's view points and become friendly towards each other.
