'BOAT' to 'Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan': Tamil movies that are releasing on August 2

But this Friday, August 2 is going to be a busy day for Kollywood fans as several Tamil biggies are slated to hit the big screens. With Dhanush's 'Raayan' dominating the box office, the multiple releases might make the theatre owners feel the pleasure. Nakkhul, who has delivered several superhit films, is back with his next release 'Vasco Da Gama', which is directed by RG Krishnan. K.S. Ravikumar, Arthana Binu, Vamsi Krishna, Anand Raj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Munishkanth, and Redin Kingsley play important roles, and the film has music scored by Arun NV. The upcoming film is about bad souls, while the cinematography and editing are done respectively by Sathish Kumar and Tamil Kumaran.

Directed by Chimbu Devan, 'BOAT' features Yogi Babu, Gouri G Kishan, MS Bhaskar, and Chinni Jayanth in the main roles. The survival thriller is set in 1943, and the film is based on a true story. 'BOAT' is about a group of people, who take the sea route due to a threat that Japanese planes would bomb Madras (Chennai). Ghibran takes care of the music, and the film is getting positive reviews from inside sources.

'Jama' features Pari Elavazhagan and Ammu Abhirami in the lead roles with Chetan, Sri Krishna Dayal, KVN Manimegalai, Vasant Marimuthu, Siva Maran, A K Elavazhagan, and Kaala kumar in supporting roles. Directed by the lead actor Pari Elavazhagan himself, the emotional drama seeks the main attention as the film has music scored by Maestro Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja. But the buzz for the film looks weak, and its going to be the reviews from the audience that might help the film.

Written and directed by Ananth, 'Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu' is a friendship drama, and it features the director in the lead role with a stellar star cast that includes Leela, Kumaravel, Vishalini, Bhavani Sre, Rj Vijay, Irfan, Wilspat, and Dev among others. 'Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu' makers have hyped the audience well through their extensive promotions, and the film is set to have a decent opening. A H Kaashif scored the music, while the cinematography and editing were handled respectively by Tamil Selvan and Fenny Oliver.

Directed by Vijay Milton, 'Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan' features Vijay Antony and Megha Akash in the lead roles, and the thriller drama is set to have the biggest opening among the new releases. Sarathkumar, Sathyaraj, Megha Akash, Daali Dhananjaya, Murali Sharma, Saranya Ponvannan, Pruthvi Ambaar, and Thalaivasal Vijay play important roles, and the film has music composed by Achu Rajamani. 'Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan' comes up with a special tribute to late actor Vijayakanth as director Vijay Milton initially had plans of having the veteran actor for a key role in the film.
