Vijayalakshmi is popular for portraying Vijay's onscreen sister; she was paired up with Suriya in 'Friends'. In 2011, she filed a complaint at the Valasaravakkam police station in Chennai that Seeman, a director, actor, and chief coordinator of the Naam Tamilar Party, had cheated on her. Later, she continued to make accusations against Seeman and expressed her fear by sharing videos on social media. She also attempted suicide in 2020, as she suffered from depression. Now, once again, Vijayalakshmi has filed a complaint against Seeman in a 4-page complaint at the Police Commissioner's office in Chennai.

Vijayalakshmi also addressed the media at the Police Commissioner's office in Chennai. According to Vijayalakshmi, Seeman had told her that he would accept her as his wife and that she should take her complaint back, which was filed in 2011. However, Seeman cheated and ruined her life. Therefore, she has now asked the commissioner to reopen the case. Vijayalakshmi felt that the previous Tamil Nadu government (AIADMK) didn't take proper action against Seema as he is also a politician, and she now hopes that the current Tamil Nadu government (DMK) will take appropriate action against him.

In a teary interview, Vijayalakshmi claimed that she had lost all her life because of this battle with Seeman and promised that she would continue till Seeman gets arrested.

Starting his cinematic journey as a director, Seeman then opted to play supporting roles in movies. Since 2011, he has been actively involved in politics, heading the Naam Tamilar Party. Seeman married Kayalvizhi in 2013, and the couple was blessed with a baby boy in 2019.
