5 young actors from Mollywood who made their Tamil debut in the recent years

Mollywood actresses like Manju Warrier, Rajisha Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others had forayed into Kollywood recently. It was announced some time ago that young Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko would be making his debut in Kollywood with Vijay-Nelson Dilipkumar’s Thalapathy 65, which has Pooja Hegde playing the female lead. Shine, who has essayed a few interesting characters in his career, is one of the many talented male actors from Mollywood who have made their debut in Tamil in the recent times. Check out some of the youngsters among them.

Kunchacko Boban

The actor, who made a sensational debut in Malayalam, is making his debut in the neighbouring film industry now after more than two decades into his career. He plays one of the lead roles in the upcoming bilingual film titled Rendagam (Ottu in Malayalam), directed by Fellini TP, which also has Arvind Swamy and Eesha Rebba playing prominent roles. The movie marks Arvind’s return to Mollywood after a hiatus and Eesha’s debut in Mollywood. Tipped as a thriller, the project’s announcement was made last month.

3/6

Roshan Mathews

Roshan, who was part of a few notable Malayalam and Hindi projects in the recent times, is making his Tamil debut with Ajay Gnanamuthu’s Vikram-starrer Cobra. Billed as a heist thriller, the film will have the actor playing an investigating officer. The big budget project, featuring a bevy of stars, will also mark the acting debut of cricketer Irrfan Pathan. AR Rahman scoring for a Vikram-starrer and the latter sporting multiple appearances are the other attractions of the film.

4/6

Sunny Wayne

The year 2018 was a special year for the actor as he tied the knot and made his Tamil debut in the same year. Rajumurugan’s much-expected film Gypsy, which had Jiiva and Natasha Singh in lead roles, marked his foray into Kollywood. A social-political film, which had courted controversy in different ways, Gypsy had Sunny in the role of a communist leader. Expressing his excitement, he had then taken to his social media account to post, “A film that will be very close to my heart as it’s my first Tamil film. It was an honour to have associated with National award-winning director Raju Murugan. I hope you all like and support the film.”

5/6

Tovino Thomas

Though many Kollywood audiences knew him since the release of Maari 2, in which he played the antagonist, he had made his debut in the industry earlier in the same year with the bilingual flick Abhiyum Anuvum (Abhiyude Katha Anuvum in Malayalam), a romantic drama directed by BR Vijayalakshmi. The film, which had Piaa Bajpai as the female lead, starred Samyukta Hornad, Prabhu, Suhasini and Rohini among others in pivotal roles. Dharan Kumar’s songs were one of the few attractions of the film.

6/6

Fahadh Faasil

The acclaimed actor, who is all set to star in Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram, had been part of two Kollywood films before. While he was last seen in Thiagarajan Kumarraja’s multi-starrer film Super Deluxe, his debut was Mohan Raja’s Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Velaikkaran, which also had Nayanthara as its female lead. Fahadh’s role of a poised antagonist which oozed oodles of swag, was a big relief from the loud, clichéd villains we come across in many of the films. He is now set to make his debut in Tollywood as well.
