5 Tamil actors who made their Tollywood debut recently

The difference between various films industries have blurred of late, thanks to actors doing projects in multiple languages. Be it a big hero/heroine or a character artiste, they are no more interested in confining themselves to one particular movie industry. There is an increasing trend in the number of Tamil actors who have recently made their debut in other industries, and industry insiders say more stars are ready to follow suit. Check out a few notable Kollywood stars who made their Tollywood debut in the recent times…

With the recent announcement of his upcoming collaboration with Sekhar Kammula, the multi-talented actor can be considered as a proper pan-Indian actor with his Tollywood debut. A singer-filmmaker, too, Dhanush has made an impact with his debut in Bollywood as well in 2013. In the same year, he had done a cameo in a Malayalam movie, which stared Mammootty and Dileep in lead roles. Having starred in an international project, too, he currently has another Hindi and an international movie in his kitty.

One of the busiest stars in Kollywood now, Sethupathi made inroads into Tollywood with the multi-starrer flick Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, which had Chiranjeevi playing the titular role. He was appreciated for his notable character in the period film, which was released in Tamil and Hindi as well. The actor then went on to play a negative role in Uppena, which released earlier this year. The movie is one of the biggest blockbusters of Tollywood in the recent times.

The young actor made an impressive debut in Telugu with Gaddalakonda Ganesh, under the direction of Harish Shankar. Interestingly, the film which released in 2019 was the remake of critically-acclaimed and National Award-winning Kollywood hit film Jigarthanda. He essayed the role Siddharth played in the original, and was noted for his performance. He currently has Thalli Pogathey in Kollywood, the remake of Tollywood hit movie Ninnu Kori.

The versatile actress made her Tollywood debut with Kousalya Krishnamurthy, which was the remake of Kanaa, the successful Tamil film which had her playing the lead role. Though her performances and a few other aspects of the film were appreciated, it didn’t reap the success the Tamil version had earned. Aishwarya, who had made her Mollywood debut earlier, then went on to star in World Famous Lover opposite Vijay Deverakonda. She currently has a few Telugu and Tamil projects in her kitty.

The actress, who had essayed characters with grey shades multiple times, forayed into Telugu film industry with Tenali Ramakrishna BA. BL, which had Sundeep Kishan and Hansika, too, playing pivotal roles in it. She dubbed in her own voice for the role which received appreciation from several quarters. Later, she went on to star in Krack and Naandhi which released earlier this year. Her performance in the former won her several fans in the Telugu states. She is now all set to star in the upcoming Telugu project, starring Balakrishna in lead role.
