5 Kollywood directors who are currently working on remakes

Though pan-Indian films are the latest fad now, the demand for remakes will remain intact. Like always, many film industries across India are currently remaking successful movies from other industries. The remakes of a few Tamil projects in other languages are happening now and there are some directors in Kollywood who are currently working on remakes from different language films. Check out a few of them…

2/6

Shankar

The numero uno filmmaker of Kollywood, who will be helming RC15 next with Ramcharan, also has his untitled project which has Ranveer Singh in lead role. The project, which courted controversy from the time of its announcement, is reportedly the adaptation of Shankar’s own Anniyan which released in 2005. The announcement of the project received mixed response from movie buffs and netizens alike as many had expressed doubt on another actor matching Vikram’s iconic performance in three roles.

3/6

Pushkar-Gayatri

The Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha has been in the news from a long time. The names of different Bollywood stars surfaced whenever news about the untitled project appeared online. The latest is that Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan will be doing the roles enacted by Vijay Sethupathi and Madhavan respectively in the Tamil version. Along with Hindi movie buffs, Tamil movie enthusiasts are also quite elated about who Pushkar-Gayatri, who directed the original, will rope in to star in the remake.

4/6

Mohan Raja

The director, who recently completed two decades as a director, is next doing a film in Telugu. Tentatively titled Megastar 153, the film, which has Chiranjeevi in the lead role, is the remake of Mollywood blockbuster Lucifer. Interestingly, Raja’s debut movie was also in Telugu, which also happened to be the remake of a Mollywood blockbuster. Though there have been speculations about Raja directing a sequel to Thani Oruvan, no official announcement about it is made yet.

5/6

R Kannan

R Kannan, who last directed Santhanam-starrer Biscoth, is working on the remake of Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen, which released on an OTT platform earlier this year. Aishwarya Rajesh and Rahul Ravindran will be seen enacting the roles essayed by Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramood respectively in the original version. One of the acclaimed films released this year, film buffs are eager to know how the Tamil version has shaped up.

6/6

Arunraja Kamaraj

The multi-talented artist, who made his directorial debut with Aishwarya Rajesh-starrer Kanaa, had signed to direct the remake of acclaimed Hindi film Article 15, which starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Sayani Gupta, Nasser and others. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Aari and Tanya Ravichandran among others will be seen in the untitled Tamil version, which is bankrolled by Boney Kapoor. As per reports, Tanya will essay the role enacted by Isha Talwar in the Hindi version.
